PT Sans is a sans-serif typeface which was developed for the project “Public Types of Russian Federation.” PT Serif is the second family of PT Sans which is available in the market. The font family is released with a libre license and can be downloaded for free and redistributed publicly.
The main purpose of the project is to provide possibility to the people of Russia to read and write in their native languages.
The project is also dedicated to the 300 years anniversary of the civil type which was invented by Peter the Great in 1708–1710. The financial support was provided from the Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication.
PT Sans font family includes the standard Western, Central European and Cyrillic code pages, in addition with characters of every little language in the Russian Federation.
The whole font family consists of 8 styles: 4 basic styles, 2 captions styles for small sizes, and 2 narrow styles for economic type settings.
